More community

The world is lonely. There’s probably some statistic out there that says your computer, phone, and tablet screens look at your face more than people do on any given day. At least, that’s how it is in my town. Part of me just thinks this sucks. But part of me wants to use this aspect of my city’s culture in order to create a community. And ultimately, to use this community to help us realize how important it is to look at each other’s faces. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

I’d like to establish this in three ways. The first is to get more guest bloggers. First, I’d like a section where you tell your story, or a significant part of it. If I could collect a bunch of those, imagine how not-alone we’d all feel.

Secondly, I’d like to elaborate on my blog’s comment and reader capabilities. I’ve thought of having a forum. But I might instead do something with my Facebook page, since we’d all actually be on there anyway. TBD.

Third, I’m going to start bringing in other people who’ve influenced my life with their art. You may have noticed one way I’ve already started this: Saturday Night Jams. I’m also going to start doing something called “Image-Bearer Spotlight,” in which I’ll pretty much tell you about a work of art that I either endorse or personally use. So far, I’ve mainly just added my big ol’ endorsement buttons on my sidebar, but I’d like to showcase specific works of art, whether they’re in the form of books, quotes, songs, apps, or other products. Because work is art and art is life. Or something like that.
